GET ANGRY FUCKERS… or maybe not.

I’m watching a documentary series on Apple TV called “Visible: Out on Television”.
I recommend it… it’s remarkable to see recent queer history unfold through the lens of pop culture and tv coverage.
It’s a big reminder.
Of course, it got me thinking about the current state of affairs… and the thing that strikes me now is the spoon feeding narrative in the zeitgeist to get more angry.
HEADLINE:
“YES, I WANT AN ANGRY WOMAN!”
“YES! LEAN IN AND GET ANGRY!”
Let’s get angry!
I want anger! You should too!
Fuck those billionaires!
Fuck corporations!
I have yet to see one headline or meme or whatever that says:
“YES! I WANT AN ANGRY GAY MAN!”
“LEAN IN AND SHOW THOSE STRAIGHT PEOPLE!”
Fuckers!
Where are those headlines?
Why aren’t there any?
I don’t think it’s a very pretty answer.
Would that headline make you uncomfortable?
If it does, the why is important.
After being reminded of the current and not so distant past, I can assure you that gay men and queer people have every right to be angry.
More than every right to be angry.
So I guess the question becomes .. do you want an angry gay man?
And if you’re a person, straight or gay, that thinks any queer person doesn’t have a right, or even desire to be outraged, or THAT queer person over there doesn’t, or think gay men have no permission to be angry… you are part of the problem in my opinion.
I don’t really need to see an angry gay man.. even for the entertainment or rabble rousing factor in presidential politics.
I am just fucking tired of angry people in general in politics.
Women and men.
There’s a place for anger, for surez, but it’s a dead end in politics… at least if you want to unite people and end this madness.
It seems to me encouraging really shitty, childish, boorish behavior in presidential politics is just plain stupid.
You don’t win that way.
You just stay there.
And, if you win, you don’t win.
And then you’re super angry all over again when the other person wins.
